Installing, staying safe and fixing common problems.
Plexcord is a free, open-source (GPL-3.0) Discord client modification. It adds 300+ built-in plugins, custom themes and privacy features to the Discord desktop app on Windows, macOS and Linux, and to Discord in your browser. It is developed and maintained by MutanPlex.
Download the installer for your system from the download page, open it, pick the Discord version you want to patch and click Install. Restart Discord and you will find Plexcord in Discord's settings.
Most problems come from an outdated version after a Discord update. Open Plexcord's settings and run the built-in updater first.
If Discord crashes before you can reach the settings, run the installer and choose "Update Plexcord" instead.
If you are already on the latest version, a fresh reinstall from the installer fixes most remaining issues.
Nothing helped? Ask in the support channel of our Discord server.
Yes. Plexcord is available as a browser extension for Chromium-based browsers and as a userscript for other browsers.
You can find both on the download page.
Not at the moment. Plexcord runs on desktop and in the browser only.
If you want a modded Discord on your phone, these projects are worth a look:
Pyoncord (discord server ): Android and iOS, built on the current Discord mobile app.
Aliucord (discord server ): Android only, built on an older version of the Discord Android app.
Plugins written for other client mods don't work in Plexcord; each mod has its own plugin system.
Check the plugin list first, since many popular ones already have a Plexcord version. If yours is missing, open a plugin request
Modifying the Discord client breaks Discord's Terms of Service, so there is always some risk.
In practice, Discord does not actively go after client mod users, and we are not aware of anyone being banned just for using one. Bans come from abusive behaviour such as spam or automation. Plexcord's built-in plugins are reviewed to avoid that, but no client mod can be guaranteed risk-free.
If losing your account would be a serious problem, the safest choice is not to use any client mod at all.
Also keep in mind that some servers have their own rules against client mods, so avoid sharing screenshots that show Plexcord there.
You don't need to. Plexcord stores its settings once per computer, so Stable, Canary and PTB all use the same settings.
In most cases the culprit is a heavy theme or custom CSS.
Turn off all themes and your QuickCSS, then check whether Discord is smooth again.
If it is, turn them back on one at a time (or remove QuickCSS in chunks) until the lag returns. The last thing you enabled is the cause.
Press CTRL + Shift + i (Cmd + Option + i on macOS) to open DevTools, switch to the "Console" tab, paste the code below and press Enter.
The script:
turns off QuickCSS (you can enable it again in Plexcord settings)
copies your theme links to the clipboard so you keep a backup
removes every installed theme
1(() => {
2 Plexcord.Settings.useQuickCss = false
3 try {
4 const copy = window.copy ?? Plexcord.Webpack.Common.Clipboard.copy
5 copy(Plexcord.Settings.themeLinks.join("\n"))
6 } catch { }
7 Plexcord.Settings.themeLinks = []
8 Plexcord.Settings.enabledThemes = []
9})()As an anti-scam measure, Discord removes your login token from disk while DevTools is open and keeps it only in memory.
If Discord is closed while DevTools is still open, the token is never written back, so you are logged out on the next start.
To avoid it, close DevTools before quitting Discord, or enable the NoDevtoolsWarning plugin, which turns this behaviour off.
Open the same installer you used to install it, select your Discord version and click "Uninstall".
The only official website is plexcord.club. You can verify this on our GitHub repository and inside the installer. Any other site using the Plexcord name is not ours and should be treated as a scam.
If you installed anything from such a site, uninstall it right away, scan your computer for malware, reinstall Discord and change your Discord password.
You can submit your plugin requests via GitHub. To report a bug, please use the support channel on our Discord server.
No. Packages like these are made by third parties, not by the Plexcord team. We only handle bugs in Plexcord itself, not problems caused by how someone else packaged it.
For anything specific to such a package, please contact its maintainer.
No. Stripped-down Windows builds often remove system components that Plexcord or its installer needs.
You are free to try, but we can't help with problems on these systems.
